Match Preview | Ethiopia Vs Cape Verde

The 33rd edition of the Africa cup on nations will kickoff today (Jan 09 -2022). The host country Cameron will host the 2013 runner up Burkina Faso.

After 8 years of absence from the african cup of nations, the waliyas get their Africa Cup of Nations campaign started with a clash against Cape Verde at Stade Paul Biya on Sunday. Both teams have been drawn in Group A of the competition, alongside host nation Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

Ethiopia finished as runners-up to Ivory Coast in Group K of the qualifiers to secure safe passage into the group stages of the tournament. Wubetu Abate’s men managed three wins and three draws from their six qualifying matches, beating Madagascar and Niger to the last automatic spot.

Like the walya’s Cape verde finished their qualifier as a runnerup to the host Cameron in group F. This edition of cup of nations will be the 3rd time for the Blue sharks (Cape verde) since 2013. They participated in 2013 and 2015 for the first and second time respectively. Then they missed out the 2017 and 19 competition.

Wubetu Abate chosen a 4-3-3 formation for today’s game. Teklemariam Shanko will be the man between the posts, Suleman Hamid, Aschalew Tamene, Yared Bayeh and Ramadan Yesuf will be tha back four. Infront of them Mesud Mohanmed, Amanuel Yohannes and Surafel Dagnachew will be there. Amanuel GebreMichale, Getaneh Kebede and Abubakar Nassir will take the front three.
