Quatar 2022: Ethiopia names preliminary squad
Abraham Mebrahtu has named a 27 men squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier match against Lesotho to be held at the beginning of September. The boys are supposed to report by August 20 at the Wabishebele Hotel, Addis Ababa. Besides the 24 players, Abraham has included three new players of Ethiopian descendants in his provisional squad including Amin Soleiman Askar (Sarpsborg 08 FF/ Norway), the goal Keeper Daniel Tessema (Strømsgodse/ Norway) and the German born Kalid Mesfin Mulugeta (Germany).
Despite the paper works, Amin Askar was supposed to be included in Sewnet Bishaw’s squad for the play off against Nigeria for the World Cup in Brazil. Abraham has also called ShimelisBekele (El Makkasa/ Egypt), Biniam Belay (Syrianska FC / SWeden), Gatoch Panom (Free agent) and Omud Okuri( Smouha FC/ Egypt).
The Debub Police skimmer Yonas Berta is also named for the senior national team for the first time. Abraham’s full squad of 27 men looks like:
